Whatever Unique was born from the idea that great design should do more than look good, it should tell a story.
Long before working in film, television, and large scale fabrication, founder Timothy O'Brien began his creative journey as a performer and member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Building custom props and mechanical devices for his own performances led to an unexpected realization. While performing was rewarding, creating the tools that made the performance possible was even more fulfilling.
That discovery sparked a career that has now spanned more than twenty-five years.
After earning a degree in Design and Technical Theatre from the University of South Carolina, Timothy continued developing a unique combination of artistic vision and technical problem solving. From custom props and specialty fabrication to production design, art direction, set design, and large scale scenic environments, every project became an opportunity to transform ideas into reality.
Today, Whatever Unique brings together that diverse experience into a single creative resource. Whether developing a concept, solving a technical challenge, designing an environment, or fabricating a finished piece, the goal remains the same. Creating memorable experiences through thoughtful design and skilled craftsmanship.
